GOOGLE UNVEILS FIRST REAL CAR PROTOTYPE!!
On Monday, the Google Self-Driving Car Project announced that it has developed its first fully-functional self-driving vehicle prototype.
In May, Google unveiled a mockup prototype for its autonomous car but that prototype, Google explains, “didn’t even have real headlights!” When the initial vehicle was unveiled in May, the lack of steering wheel, brake, and accelerator pedals was noted but it was believed that these so-called missing parts were on purpose. Now, it seems they were missing because the car was not road-ready but just a concept. “Since then, we’ve been working on different prototypes-of-prototypes, each designed to test different systems of a self-driving car–for example, the typical “car” parts like steering and braking, as well as the “self-driving” parts like the computer and sensors,” explained Google. “We’ve now put all those systems together in this fully functional vehicle–our first complete prototype for fully autonomous driving.”
